Housing & Resources Committee

The objective of the Housing & Resources Committee is to reduce barriers that LGBTQ survivors face when seeking safe housing and other services when recovering from intimate partner violence.

Opportunities for Volunteers:
Volunteers who join the Housing & Resources Committee have the opportunity to assist on several initiatives, including but not limited to:
  • Working with providers, the DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence and various stakeholders to increase the capacity of housing providers in serving male survivors
  • Attending the bimonthly Domestic Violence Housing Taskforce meetings as a Rainbow Response Housing Committee Representee to represent the interests of the LGBTQ community as the Taskforce moves forward with its work plan
  • Connecting providers to ensure that referrals for LGBTQ survivors are being made to the appropriate agencies through Mapping the Rainbow (a resource guide for LGBTQ survivors and their providers)
  • Researching housing regulations and using the findings to educate providers about obligations under both local and federal housing laws

Meeting Time:
The Housing Committee generally meets at 5pm on the second Wednesday of the month (directly before the general Rainbow Response meeting at 6pm). For more information about the housing committee contact info@rainbowresponse.org
